For newcomers to domain name poetics: use .horse for anything and it’s immediately funny. That TLD is basically the greatest thing to happen to the internet since HTML5. - The Atlantic
I first became aware of the concept of a TLD (top-level domain) some time in middle school. I vividly remember scrolling through Wikipedia’s list of TLDs in search of crazy, seemingly purposeless domains. At that point, I was only familiar with dot com and dot org, so the fact that these were available for use, to me, was fascinating.
Why would people need a dot horse domain? Who would ever use it? The answer, from that same Wikipedia page:
Target Market: horse-related businesses and interest
Do I fall within that target market? No. Is me using this domain largely a bit? Yes. Do I find it hilarious? Also yes.
Will the stuff I write in the future be better than this? I sure hope so.
